The North Melbourne Residence

My client approached me with a brief to re-imagine their three bedroom family home to accomodate the transition of their children from kids to pre-teen.

My aim was to create 'zones' within the house that could be adapted and utilised to the specific needs of each individual throughout the day/week. A back wall extension along with a side-return extension helped to open up the kitchen/living area, creating a warm and inviting family 'hub' room with a central island and casual living area. Bi-fold doors open up onto a fully decked outdoor living space, helping to tie the inside/outside. A study was introduced in place of what was previously a ground floor bedroom and the entrance way was partially opened up to create a large 'multi-purpose' room with ample storage, built in library shelving, chilled bean bags and an additional tv for the kids to game. All bedrooms were moved onto the first floor with the master suite opening up onto a new decked roof terrace, creating a private 'adult' zone with deck chairs and a small table.

A full visual package including plans, elevations and 3D renders were delivered to this client.
